Within the past 2 months alone, I have received close to 10 emails, and over 50 WhatsApp messages from people who follow my posts on both my blog and social pages and who want me to advise them on what online businesses to do.
Last week alone, I got 15 such message requests.
And because the persons in my close circles are mainly medics, about 7 of them were doctors who are looking for a profitable business with small capital they can start as soon as possible.
If you have read the free E-book I have been distributing among people who follow my blog and social pages;
The 5 little-known but very profitable businesses any one can start with in Nigeria and be successful…
You must have seen the many delicious business opportunities that were outlined and explained there.
But if I were to recommend a profitable business for doctors or any health worker at all, who only has a start-up capital of N50,000 and just 3 hours a day to spare, I would recommend what is known as Smart E-commerce.

What Is Smart E-commerce & Why Do I Recommend This Business Idea For Doctors?
Before I explain the meaning of smart e-commerce and why I recommend it, I would like you to pause briefly and imagine what a lot of people spend their money on apart from;
- Shelter
- Transport
- School Fees
- Food and Drinks.
If you are able to think about this carefully, you will find out that most of what people spend money on comes down to physical goods that help us to live a more comfortable life and enjoy life better.
Such physical products help us live a more comfortable life and many are also related to healthcare and lifestyle improvement such as;
- Health Supplements
- Creams
- Soaps (Especially Medicated)
- Customized Clothing (For Global Days of Health Celebrations)
- Make-up and Other Beauty Products
- Smart Health Wrist Watches
- Fitness Products
- Medical Equipment (Sphygmomanometers, Scrub, Stethoscope, etc.)
- Bathroom products and toiletries
- Provisions; including beverage, Etc
So what point am I trying to make?
“People spend a whole lot of money on a yearly basis on physical products and this is the reason why e-commerce companies like Jumia, and Konga are Fattening their pockets every day”
The market for these products is HUGE and UNLIMITED.
And most of these products are usually made and imported from countries like the United States (mainly) and China.
But unlike Jumia and Konga, you do not need to create and manage a big website with lots of products and bells to make a lot of money importing and selling these physical products.
Of course not!
As a matter of fact, you could make millions by just launching a single product when you use this smart e-commerce approach.
Well, I am not sure what your income goal is…
Maybe you just need an extra N500,000 a month
Or even N1 million per month
Or N5 million per month
If you could add any of the above figures into your bank account every month as a doctor in Nigeria, you are made for life.
And I am confident that the smart e-commerce model I am about to explain can make this a reality for you (that is if you are not just focused on academics and the hospital like many other medics do).
How Does Smart E-commerce Work?
What I am about to explain below is how smart e-commerce works, and I will be illustrating this using a short story.
This is a true-life story, or you can call it a testimony shared by one stay-at-home mom in a closed Facebook group about E-commerce. I read this from a blueprint on drop shipping recently.
She spent most of her time at home taking care of her children at home and needed something to support the welfare of the family.
Her desire was to start a fashion design shop, but her capital was not big enough to rent her a shop and supply all the needed equipment.
But along the line, someone introduced her to Smart E-commerce.
A few weeks after she started, she imported her first batch of products from China.
What she imported was a simple hand-sewing machine that anyone could use to make simple adjustments to their cloth.
And guess what??
It cost her just N800 to import each of the mini-sewing machines. This included (product cost + shipping).
First, it was just 40 pieces that she imported, and it cost her around N40,000.
Then she sold each one of them for N5,500 without owning a website or an online store like Jumia and Konga.
But by using her Instagram page.
I guess you might have seen some of her adverts on Instagram.
To cut the whole story short, she sold all the 40 pieces within her first week of importing them.
And she ordered another 200 pieces using the profit she realized from the first batch.
Within her first month, she has already sold 250 pieces on Instagram and made a net profit of N1.2 million.
Now reason this out – How many businesses do you know of where a person starts with just N50,000 and makes N1,2 million in net profits just in the space of a month?
Take a critical look at this story once more (you can read it over and over), and you will understand clearly what Smart E-commerce is all about.
But just in case you need further clarifications, I will help you understand it better;
3 Things Smart E-Commerce is About:
- You search for at least one physical product that provides the solutions to people’s problems or helps them get closer to their desire.
For Instance. In the story above, the mini sewing machine is equipment that helps a lot of moms to easily make adjustments to their kid’s clothes without having to go to the tailor and without buying a standard sewing machine.
2. You purchase the products at the lowest cost possible (Usually from China or the United States) then you import them to Nigeria.
For instance. The woman bought the sewing machines from a site called Aliexpress and imported them via a shipping agent known as ChrisVicMall to avoid heavy custom charges.
3. Finally, you sell them using genius marketing methods for a good Return On Investment (ROI).
For Instance, In her case, she simply sold them using only Instagram adverts.
This is the reason why I stated earlier that you can make millions from a single product when you deploy the smart e-commerce approach precisely.
Then as you progress, you can expand your business to more products.
At the moment, the overall E-commerce business in Nigeria is booming.
A study published on Leadership.ng, states that the E-commerce industry in Nigeria is now worth over $13 Billion.
Now, this is more than 4.5 Trillion Naira.
This is exactly why I strongly recommend this business model, especially for persons whose close circles are mainly health workers and medical students.
Why I recommend This as one of the Best Businesses for doctors and health workers
1. It Requires Little Capital
Starting this does not require that you invest a lot of money. (You can even start with N25,000)·
2. You Have Access To an Unlimited Supply Of Products
The physical products market is huge and unlimited (You will never run out of products to sell if you follow what I am sharing with you).
3. You Do Not Need an Office Or Shop
This is an ideal online medical business because it does not compete with the time you spend in the hospital or at work. All you may just need is an active Instagram and Facebook page just like the mom in the story I shared.
4. It is not time-consuming
The major concern for doctors and medical students especially in Nigeria is time. We often complain of not having enough time to mind our other businesses apart from being in the clinic and places of work.
But Smart E-commerce will only take about 3 hours of your time daily for the first few days of starting this till you have laid strong foundations for your business.
I know many of my colleagues who market and sell basic medical equipment like Face masks, scrubs, and stethoscopes.
If they could do this perfectly well while still in school, then this one is not a challenge at all.
5. And the profits can be fast and crazy
Yes! An additional N1.2 million in the bank account of a doctor in the first few months of investing just N50,000 in smart e-commerce is a big one.
If you receive this monthly in Nigeria coupled with your monthly salary as a doctor, you are made.
Even if ASUU goes on strike or the government fails to pay the monthly salary as at when due, you have absolutely nothing to fear.
But as you can see, this business is not for broke or unserious people.
The amazing thing about this is that you can turn your capital into an incessant stream of profits within a few weeks if you use a proven system.
